We Named Everyone Who Touches Your Words — and Wrote Down What We Will Not Do

On September 15, we told you Oji Echo’s conversations travel through outside servers. Today we’re giving you the details we left out, and a few promises in writing.

We named the outside services

Three kinds of outside parties are in the path of your words:

  • DigitalOcean hosts LEGH’s own companion server, where saved conversations live until they’re deleted after 55 days.
  • OpenRouter is the routing service that carries your message to the AI model and the reply back.
  • The model provider. OpenRouter chooses which company runs the model for each message. We don’t pick. The ones eligible today are DekaLLM, NextBit, DeepInfra, CoreWeave, Venice, Parasail, NovitaAI, SiliconFlow, io.net, and Google Vertex.

They are different companies in different places, so your message may be processed outside the United States. DekaLLM, for example, runs its servers in Indonesia, and io.net describes itself as a decentralized network of computers.

We tightened a setting

We’ve told OpenRouter to send messages only to providers it lists as zero-retention, and never to providers that train on your data. We rely on those providers’ own terms, and we can’t check them ourselves. Some providers’ terms describe keeping content briefly for operations even when they’re listed as zero-retention. Our privacy page says exactly that.

We wrote down what LEGH will not do

We will never make you pay. We will never expose who you are. We will never sell your words. We will keep LEGH separate from anything built for profit. And we wrote down where we want Oji Echo and Hope Echo to live. Read it all on What LEGH Will Not Do.

One more fix

The links at the bottom of every page, including Privacy and Updates, were hidden from screen readers. That’s fixed.

What isn’t finished

We still want a setup where nothing is retained outside our own server, and we still want Oji Echo and Hope Echo on hardware LEGH owns. That takes funding we don’t have yet. When either changes, you’ll read it here first.

We would rather give you an honest, unfinished truth than a polished promise we couldn’t keep.
